The main northern section of the beach (SH 50) curves gently north of the jetty for 200 m to the inner rocks of Laings Point. This is also a narrow high tide beach, widening to about 5 m at low tide. It is backed by a low seawall, walkway, and from the south, a hotel, then beachfront houses, with many dinghies pulled up against the seawall and boats moored within 20 m of the beach.
Between Laings Point and South Head is 1 km of west-facing rocky shore containing the two small Camp Cove and Lady Bay.
