Square Patch refers to a 60m high bare patch of otherwise vegetated dune escarpment 1.5km south of Tangalooma Point. The beach extends for 4.5km south of the point to the inflection with Kounungai Beach. The beach faces west to south-west and is fronted by a narrow high tide beach and 200m wide, ridged sand flats, that are only active during strong westerly winds and waves.
