Freshwater Point is a 2.5km long, east facing point backed by both cleared and wooded slopes that rise to 50m. Four wheel drive tracks provide access to most of the shoreline, which is dominated by 100m wide intertidal rock flats. On the exposed eastern shore are three pockets of sand. The three beaches (1144, 1145, 1146) all face east, are 200m, 150m and 100m long respectively and consist of a narrow high tide sandy beach, fronted by a 100m wide low tide bar, with wider rock flats to either side. There is no development on the point or at the beaches.
