The Cape Paterson Bay Beach is a crenulated, sheltered beach tucked in behind extensive rock platforms, reefs and a headland. The 400 m long, curving beach faces south west and is located adjacent to the centre of Cape Paterson township with a foreshore camping reserve and degraded foredune backing the beach. A boat ramp and car park are located at the western end. The Wonthaggi Life Saving Club, founded in 1938, is in the centre of the beach and is backed by a grassed playground and picnic area with parking and public amenities. This popular beach is ideal for families, anglers and divers alike, and includes a manmade rock pool on the beach. Waves average about 0.5 m and the beach is narrow and steep at high tide. Most of the rocks are covered by water, however at low tide more rocks than sand occupy the low tide area. read more
