Beach 1437 runs from the low, rocky point for 5km to a small tidal creek that cuts the high tide beach and drains across the low tide bar. Beach 1438 extends for another 4km on the other side of the creek. Both beaches are relatively straight and face north-north-east, receiving waves averaging less than 0.5m. Beach 1437 is backed by 100 to 300m of wooded beach ridges, then the higher bedrock core of the island. A few rocks outcrop toward the centre of the beach, with rock reefs off this area. Beach 1438 runs straight from the eastern side of the creek to Norton Point and is backed entirely by a beach ridge plain up to 1km wide. Both beaches have moderate gradient high tide beaches that are eroding back into the trees, particularly toward Norton Point. The beaches are fronted by a 150 to 200m wide, low gradient bar for most of their length, with tidal shoals extending up to 2km off Norton Point.
Beach Length: 4km
