Fishermans Beach is one of the two resort beaches and the centre of most island activity. It is a 1.2km long, curving, west facing beach and is backed by some freehold housing in the south, with the major resort and the runway backing most of the tree-lined beach. The beach receives waves averaging less than 0.5m and is often calm. It has a steep, narrow high tide beach, fronted by a continuous, shallow, 100m wide bar. Boats are moored off the more protected southern end and the entire bay is relatively shallow. Due to its protected nature, the ferries from Rosslyn Harbour nose into the deeper northern end of the beach to land and pick up visitors.
